The trouble with politics.
I often wonder why people have little, or no faith in politicians. As a local councillor, I see the good and the bad in much that I do. That’s where I’ll park that thought. Unlike most, I don’t claim anything as my own unless I have had an involvement throughout, and if you wish to challenge anything which I say or publish, go ahead, I can provide evidence to back up statements.
I’m a local Conservative councillor, with emphasis on a small ‘c’, but when it comes to supporting my community, or the ditrict, I vote for what’s in their best interest rather than any political belief. I’m in a class of one who doesn’t follow the whip, and have voted in favour of proposals that are in everyones interest. Don’t take my word for this ask anyone from my own party or the opposition parties.
Grange Park surgery, a long time in the making.
First and foremost, Dr Caroline Rayment, whom I have had the good fortune to work with over the past 4-years, is perhaps an exemplar for our local community. She has worked tirelessly for 5-years (from April 2020) trying to expand Grange Park Surgery. This community owes her an enormous debt of gratitude, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time to be able to help her progress matters. Hard work, well that doesn’t describe the monumental effort to get funding for Grange Park, which started in 2020 in communications to our then MP Philip Davies and the Secretary of State for Health at that time.
My FOI to Bradford District NHS Foundation Trust
Several weeks ago, I requested all the emails regarding Grange Park Surgery from the NHS. Yesterday, Wednesday, May 7th, I received the following response:
What follows is the exact sequence of events, including all emails to corroborate who did what, and when. This raises some very interesting questions about support for expansion at the surgery, which opens up a can of worms. I’m now working on the whole communication chain, which will take some time to publish, but it will be published and tabulated so that you can view all communications with the surgery, NHSE, BDNHSFT, Bradford Council and others. The following set of statements may give you time to pause for thought…
- What was promised when planning permission was granted at Sun Lane.
- Section 216(2) (d) of the planning Act 2008, detailing what CIL funding is to support has since changed, however, I still have the extract of policy implemented by government at that time.
- Who actually supported the use of CIL at the surgery, and who didn’t.
- Did Bradford support the funding, as we’re now lead to believe.
- Who did what? Perhaps others might FOI and publish their input into matters seperately to support their stories.
- What actually happened along the way in discussion with Bradford’s CEO, Bradford Council, Bradford NHS Trust, and the ICB amongst others.
This will take me around 2-weeks to fully document, but the answers are coming.
