LBA meeting July 3rd, 2024
Discussions took place at the ACC meeting on the above date. This was to discuss a quarterly update on all matters at the airport.
Firstly, here are the latest passenger numbers and night-time movements for the period March to June 2024.

Airspace Change Proposals (ACP) progress.
I asked about progress on the ACP (CAP1616), the airport couldn’t answer during the meeting but have promised that the Head of ATC will provide detail by email.
CLEUD (A Certificate of Lawful Existing Use or Development).
There are few responses to the CLEUD, which include GALBA. Local councils and individuals were permitted to respond to the CLEUD, (email from Carole Cunnigham at Leeds City Council) but had not done so.
CLEUD – Leeds City Council have requested 3 x 2-month extensions in which to respond to the CLEUD. They have recently requested another 2-month extension.
Departures and Arrivals.
It has been at least 2-years since we were last provided with arrival/departure directions and associated figures by LBA. I have requested that these are provided at the next ACC meeting as it is key to understanding the impact of the airport locally. Historically, the split has been 70-80% to/from runway 32 and 20% to/from runway 14. This is important as it is discussed in Airspace Change Proposals.
Advertising.
The airport is changing its advertising to be more ‘Yorkshire’, so don’t be surprised to see ‘Ey up World’ featured marketing campaigns. LBA were hoping to use material from an old Hale and Pace TV clip to promote the “Yorkshireness” of the airport but are unable to do so because of copyright.
LBA’s marketing is to be pushed out in Leeds, appearing on the side of 70 electric buses, on Leeds ring-roads and local radio stations.
Other important information.
Private charters aren’t managed by LBA, they are managed elsewhere. The issue here is that aircraft have no place to stay at LBA and are consequently despatched to other airports for overnight stays before returning to LBA for return journeys.
