Petition to have a Zebra/Pelican crossing on Bingley Road, Menston.

There’s a need to consider the safety of school children who regularly walk to school along Bingley Road, Menston. James Gill and Peter Cochrane and Cllr Bob Felstead have, along with other residents expressed their concerns and the inaction of Bradford Council – Children’s lives are at risk.
The proposed location is shown, and this is on a heavily used stretch of Bingley Road on which the 20mph limit has proved ineffective. It’s simply not good enough to solely rely upon police enforcement of the 20 mph speed limit. HGV’s and motor vehicles pass this point often exceeding 30mph.
We need council to consider the safety of children who cross this busy stretch of road when travelling to and from school. We believe that there’s an accident waiting to happen at this location, and Bradford Council must consider financing a crossing from Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) from local developers.
The petition needs to have at least 1,500 signatures to prompt a debate within Bradford Council and to help deliver a much needed ‘safe’ crossing point.
This petition has now ended – any signatures submitted will no longer count towards the total.
